Welcome to Dr. Dawg’s new digs. You’ve probably heard the story. After Echo launched its positively draconian new subscription model, I offered to help Dawg move his comments to a better (and freer) site. One thing led to another, and I soon found myself hard at work recreating the look and feel of Dr. Dawg’s old site on my servers, and then moving as much material I could from Blogger and Echo onto the new blog.
We’ve transferred enough to go live. There is still a lot of work to do moving many of the older comments to the site, and there’s going to be a few more tweaks to the templates in the coming days. There will also be a period of adjustment when it comes to the new commenting system, which is wholly in house. I’ll be helping Dawg with that. You should be able to sign in using your Facebook, Twitter or Google accounts, and when you do that, you’ll have a recognizable “account” on this system, which will allow you to bypass any comment moderation and spam filter systems that are currently in place, allowing your comment to appear instantly. But for the first couple of days, please don’t be surprised if your comments don’t appear right away.
Your patience is much appreciated as we continue this transition, but so far I’m pleased with how the site looks. Thanks to Dawg for giving me this opportunity to contribute to his web presence.
