Meanwhile, in the US today an American citizen can be held in jail for years without charge, brutally tortured, and refused the right to have his day in court, all by executive order. An Obama-appointed judge, siding with the former Republican administration, has ruled that this is perfectly all right, and the Constitution be damned.
Here at home, Stephen Harper, who has described Canada as a “second-tier socialistic country” and professed undying admiration for all things American (while notoriously unable to utter the phrase “I love Canada”), is within reach of a majority government.
