This sets the tone of the Con victory, doesn’t it?

Conservative supporters at John Baird’s victory party in Ottawa West-Nepean said they’re “overjoyed” over the party’s showing in the election — but they don’t want to be named in print.

…Metroland Media was told “no interviews will be permitted with supporters in attendance,” in an email sent by director of communications Chris McCluskey.

Asked what that ban means for transparency in his riding, Baird brushed off the concern.

Of course, this behaviour is hardly new:

…It’s not the first time during this election that Tory supporters have been hesitant to speak with media.

As hundreds of young supporters from all parties rallied outside of the Government Conference Centre before the Leaders’ Debates, young Liberals, NDP and Greens spoke freely with Metro about their hopes for their parties.

However, about a dozen young Tories turned down requests for comment. Asked if anyone told them not to, each said the decision was their own. [emphasis added]

Tomorrow belongs to them.
