Fox News wallows in unabashed racism yet again.

Business news host Eric Bolling gratuitously appropriated African American rapper slang to describe Barack Obama’s present abode and the people he meets there. When called on it, he eventually issued one of those non-apology apologies:

Bolling initially defended himself, Tweeting on Friday: ‘Is ABC racist? Or USA Today? Or just me because I work for Fox?’

On Monday evening, however, he offered a full apology to viewers.

‘One editorial note,’ he said. ‘On Friday, we did a story about the President meeting with the president of Gabon.

‘We got a little fast and loose with the language, and we know it’s been interpreted as being disrespectful, and for that, I’m sorry.’

So he’s sorry that some folks have interpreted his remarks as disrespectful. Nice.

The adroit and not-so-adroit use of dialectic putdowns of Black folks is a common conservative trick. Well, not solely conservative, to be fair. While this sort of thing is prevalent in the ranks of the lily-white Tea Party types, it also simmers not far below the surface even in people like Senator Harry Reid and former president Bill Clinton.

Here is the delightful Whoopi Goldberg taking the wretched Bolling on. She manages to keep the tone light, but she’s had more than a few years of living in Amerika to toughen her up:

Nothing will change at the “fair and balanced” Fox News, of course: the racist nudge-nudge-wink-winks will continue unabated during the lead-up to next year’s presidential election. The Right hates Obama, not for his policies (he doesn’t have any), not for his decisive moves (he hasn’t made any), but because of who and what they perceive him to be: an interloper, an intruder, in the final analysis just another uppity n——r. And if what we have just witnessed is any indication, the dog-whistles of yore are about to be replaced by foghorns.
