Hungry weekends: Texas cutbacks

Need to save money? Why not give prison inmates fewer meals? Texas will feed 23,000 prisoners only two meals a day on weekends. “Brunch” is to be served between 5 and 7 am.

Texas is in a class by itself when it comes to barbarism, but in fairness we should note that in this they are followers, not leaders. Ohio, Arizona and Georgia have already instituted the policy, Georgia adding Fridays as well.

You really can’t make this stuff up.

My favourite part? Texas eliminated choice of last meal for death row prisoners about to be executed because one of them ordered too much food and didn’t eat it when delivered. Typical lowlife ingrate, spoiling things for everyone else.

Somewhere Sheriff Joe Arpaio is cheering.

America’s headlong rush into dystopia continues. Stay tuned.
