Roma claims of persecution in Central and Eastern Europe, [Toronto Roma Community Centre executive director Gina Csanyi-Robah] noted, are well documented and their acceptance as refugees in Canada was high before the Conservatives stepped up their anti-Roma rhetoric in recent years.
Csanyi-Robah also claimed Kenney’s “negative remarks” about Roma are prompting many to withdraw their claims by creating a sense that Canada is becoming as anti-Roma as their home countries.
Let’s hope that is not the case. Although this makes disturbing reading.
