The New York Times reporting objectively: recognition of Palestinian status by the UN General Assembly will require the US and Israel to “contain the damage.”

If containing damage is really the aim, perhaps the US might like to take action to preserve West Bank olive trees. Oh, and Gaza.

This graf is particularly revealing:

A major concern for the Americans is that the Palestinians might use their new status to try to join the International Criminal Court. That prospect particularly worries the Israelis, who fear that the Palestinians might press for an investigation of their practices in the occupied territories.

Can’t have that.
