University bans speaker

| Disqus Comments
A prominent visitor was banned this past March from a university campus. Said a university official:

Academic freedom is a core principle of any institution of higher education. But with that freedom comes an obligation to exercise free thought and free speech in concert with mutual respect and acknowledgment of broader resource and security impacts on the campus. The exercise of freedom requires a commensurate dose of responsibility.

François Houle again?

Nope. Recall that Provost Houle expressed a little well-modulated concern and then welcomed the horrendous hatemonger Ann Coulter onto his campus. Her own organizers canceled the event.

This time an invitation to a controversial speaker was formally rescinded. But you shouldn't expect quite the same level of outrage from the Usual Suspects.
