
Freelancers live from hand to mouth. They are the proletariat who keep the print media running. Maybe it’s time for a revolution.
John Stackhouse, editor-in-chief of the Globe and Mail, is putting on the squeeze, telling them that henceforward they shall not be permitted to write for Toronto Life or Chatelaine. There publications are held to be “competition,” if you can believe it.
I guess the way things are going, come to think of it, just about everything is competition for the new, glossy, dumbed-down Globe. The man should count his blessings. Why not tell him so (jstackhouse@globeandmail.ca), politely, of course?
