Check out French satirical sculptor Honoré Daumier’s bust of a legislator, ca. 1830:

Separated at birth? Nope: joined at the hip. Daumier sums up a type, one that has existed since the overthrow of feudalism: well-off, insufferably smug, contemptuous of the less fortunate, unshakably secure in the rightness of his place in the world.
