Who knew, apart from the War Amps of Canada and the grateful recipients, that Viagra-popping was essential to keep our boys in fighting trim?

When introduced in 2000, the government justified supplying the prescription wonder drug to troops as a health policy meant to ensure all soldiers were mentally fit and ready for the battlefield.

The use of sports and military metaphors to describe male-female relations is well-known, of course—“scoring,” “banging” and so on, not to mention the cute little chant referenced above. Now we can see just how closely the relations between metaphor and “reality” can be intertwined.

No matter. Women have their own martial capabilities. Just saying.
