Domestic torture now legal in US

| Disqus Comments

It’s official.

You can be an American citizen on American soil and still be subject to “harsh interrogation” (an example of the latter is illustrated above): torture, to use the proper term, that can literally drive you mad. The US justice system has been rendered inoperable by anti-terrorism hysteria.

Americans can even be executed now by Presidential fiat. Forget legal due process. The Obama administration has gone one better than Bush, arguing that “due process” under the Constitution could refer simply to the discussions held by top-level officials before carrying out summary executions of their fellow-citizens.

Western civilization? With Mohandas Gandhi, I’m beginning to think it would be a very good idea.
