(Ottawa, July 11) DawgNews has learned that a small counter-demonstration (pictured above) took place during yesterday’s Death of Evidence rally.

While the whitecoats were chanting “What do we want? Science! When do we want it? After peer review!” the counter-protesters conveyed a more direct message: “God Hates Facts.”

“Facts and fact-enablers are dooming this country,” said a spokesperson. “Thank God for Stephen Harper.”

The small but boisterous crowd, separated from the demonstration by RCMP officers, heckled the scientists from a distance. “Reason is treason!” shouted one. “Buncha test-tube babies!” yelled another. Then a chant: “God hates evidence! Hell will be your residence!”

Gary T. Goodyear, the creationist Minister of State for Science & Technology, refused to say whether or not he supported the counter-demo. “I am a Christian,” he said, “and I don’t think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate.”

The newly-fledged group is planning daily pickets of Statistics Canada, the Museum of Science and Technology, and the “Godless” Museum of Nature.

[H/t and kudos]
