Canada's Own Two-Minute Hate

Exhibit A: The Original

“A hideous, grinding speech, as of some monstrous machine running without oil, burst from the big telescreen at the end of the room. It was a noise that set one’s teeth on edge and bristled the hair at the back of one’s neck. The Hate had started…Before the Hate had proceeded for thirty seconds, uncontrollable exclamations of rage were breaking out from half the people in the room. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge-hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one’s will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic. And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blowlamp. “

Exhibit B: The Canadian Edition

Responses to a brief Rebel post in which avocat manqué, lobbyist and faux-journalist Ezra Levant accuses Justin Trudeau of pot smoking and lying about a ski-trip:

“He’s a fuckin disgrace. Treasonous cunt.”

“I pray to the Avalanche gods, please do your work and bury this guy.” (Note: This witticism presumably refers to the death of Trudeau’s brother Michel in an avalanche.)

“What a FUCKTARD !!”

“Both Americans and Canadians have no idea how fast their countries are turning into Islamic states now that both have Muslims [sic] leaders.”

“I hope his neck gets wrapped around a tree.”

“He must be doing them all if his dick is as long like his nose.”

“Justin Trudeau is a prick and I hate his guts.”

“He needs to be killed. Seriously.”

“You’re Fucking skiing in Whistler, partying and taking selfies?! Fuck you Jr.!! Fuck you Notley! Fuck you OPEC and Fuck every Fucking socialist liberal Fucking piece of shit on this planet!!! FUCK!”

Some of our favourite conservative commenters and bloggers here have expressed the view that Mr. Levant, while perhaps not the most rigorous or balanced or honest or intelligent or informed or objective or articulate or insightful or ethical of journalists, nonetheless plays a vital role in giving voice to the struggling, long-suppressed Plain People of Canada. If this is their voice, thanks, but I’ll take the eloquent and reasoned tones of Donald Trump.
